Dr. Candy Lewis Williams is the founder of The Lotus Concept, where she has spent more than 40 years helping women and men better understand the connections that can influence their health, resilience, and well-being.
A Board-Certified Naturopathic Doctor, Functional Nutritionist, Certified Peptide Specialist, Master Herbalist, Clinical Trichologist, and Master Life Coach, Dr. Candy approaches health from a whole-person perspective. Rather than looking at one symptom or body system in isolation, she explores how nutrition, metabolism, stress, emotional experiences, nervous-system regulation, lifestyle, and other biological processes may interact.
At the heart of her work is a simple principle: the body is an interconnected communication system.
Dr. Candy combines modern science with time-tested Eastern and Western approaches to help clients better understand these connections and become active participants in their health and well-being.
Trained in trauma-informed care, Dr. Candy incorporates evidence-informed somatic and energy psychology approaches that support emotional regulation, stress reduction, resilience, and greater awareness of the connection between emotional and physical well-being. Her training includes Clinical Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), Matrix Reimprinting, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Trauma-Sensitive HeartMath®, Polyvagal Trauma Therapy, meditation, and other somatic approaches. These methods may include tapping, breathwork, heart-focused practices, body awareness, meditation, and parts work.
Dr. Candy is also a Certified Meditation Instructor and Trauma-Sensitive HeartMath® Certified Practitioner. Her education includes a Doctor of Naturopathic Ministries (NDM) and theological studies through Payne Theological Seminary, further supporting her interest in the relationship between physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Recognizing that whole-person health may also include spiritual well-being, Dr. Candy can incorporate faith, prayer, meditation, and other contemplative practices when they are meaningful and appropriate to the individual client.
Her clinical and educational interests include functional nutrition, peptide science, stress and trauma physiology, women's and men's health, metabolic health, and trichology—the study of hair and scalp health. Her work increasingly explores an important question: How do the body's many communication systems—including the nervous, endocrine, immune, metabolic, and peptide-signaling systems—interact with our experiences, environment, nutrition, and patterns of stress and recovery?
This systems-based approach also guides her work in hair and scalp health. Rather than viewing hair loss only as a cosmetic concern, Dr. Candy helps clients understand that changes in hair and scalp health may sometimes provide important clues about nutrition, hormones, metabolism, inflammation, stress, and other processes occurring throughout the body.
As an educator and speaker, Dr. Candy is committed to making complex health information understandable and useful. Through The Lotus Concept's educational programs and courses, she helps clients understand not only what may be happening in their bodies, but also how different systems communicate, influence one another, and what may happen when that communication becomes disrupted or out of balance. Her goal is to help clients better understand their bodies, recognize important patterns, and identify questions worth exploring with their healthcare team.
Dr. Candy has appeared on The Dr. Oz Show and has traveled internationally, sharing her message with audiences in Japan, Argentina, South Africa, Mozambique, and Honduras. Her commitment to service has been recognized through honors including the Better Business Bureau's Women in Business Networking Top 25 Businesses award and the Phenomenal Woman's Award from Believers Christian Fellowship Church.
She is also honored to provide complimentary wellness services to Active-Duty Military Personnel, Veterans, and their families through The Veteran's Stress Solution.
Outside of her professional work, Dr. Candy enjoys spending time in nature, kayaking, gardening, relaxing at the beach, and cherishing time with her family.

Shahidah Steed, Board Certified Trichologist (TC., AMCA), Natural Health Professional (CNHP), is a holistic health coach and founder of an innovative business called Indigo Wellness & Trichology Center. She assists clients to re-grow hair through a holistic approach to beauty and wellness. This supports the image and essence of the human body to achieve equilibrium and tranquility. Shahidah effectively uses a range of interventions, which include massage, a wide range of hair care including natural hair care, skin care, and body work.
As a graduate of US Trichology Institute, Institute of Certified Natural Health Profressionals, the Valmy International School of Esthetics and the Kree International School of Electrolysis, Shahidah is an expert in Trichology, holistic health, aesthetics, electrolysis and natural hair care. Shahidah’s professional experiences include working as a make-up artist with “The Ground Crew” of Audrey Smaltz and for several innovative salons in New York City, Philadelphia and New Jersey.
For Shahidah beauty is not simply a matter of hair or skin care; beauty is a reflection of the body in balance. As result, she brings her holistic concept of "Indigo" to “The Lotus Concept” which provides clients with an innovative approach to wellness and trichology. Her enterprise represents a fulfillment of a vision and completion of a personal mission, which she shares with her clients and our community.
Shahidah is a mother to Taherra, grandmother to Zayah and has a fur baby name Oya.
